Gucci, the art of Italian leather goods.

For almost a century now, Gucci has been distinguishing itself thanks to its sense of detail and its mastery of leather working. A symbol of Italian refinement, this fashion house is known above all else for the elegance and boldness of its luxury leather goods, but also offers collections of clothing, accessories, shoes and jewellery.

From the world of horse riding to luxury goods.

The history of this famous Italian company began in 1921, when Guccio Gucci opened a small leather goods boutique in Florence. Specialising in crafting leather, the designer combined artisanal know-how with aesthetics borrowed from other lands. The first collections, inspired by the equestrian world, gave rise to the brand's two emblems, snaffles and stirrups. During the Second World War, the country was hit by a shortage of leather which led Guccio Gucci to bring out his famous Bamboo bag – a model made out of boar skin, with a bamboo handle that would acquire cult status. So it wasn't until the war ended that the company developed its collections of leather accessories. It was also at that time that the three coloured stripes made their first appearance, inspired by horse riding saddles. In 1953, Guccio was succeeded by his sons and the label moved into the international market. But time was passing and Gucci was having problems maintaining its level of success... Its problems were solved, however, with the arrival of the very talented Tom Ford in 1990, and he was responsible for Gucci's return to centre stage, with models that revisited the fifties, from satin tops to the famous purple dinner jacket.

On the leather goods side, Gucci has produced numerous must-haves, often adorned with its brown monogram and embellished with its iconic coloured stripes. Amongst its most famous bags, features the Jackie O, a design created in tribute to Jackie Kennedy Onasis. The brand also stands out with its collections of feminine shoes, its jewellery accessories, its glasses and the Gucci watch.

A feminine world

From Jackie Kennedy to Grace Kelly, the Made in Italy brand counts amongst its muses the most elegant ladies the planet has ever seen. To the list of the brand's ambassadors can also be added a large number of celebrities and personalities from the music industry. Madonna, Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna have all taken part in its charity campaigns. Constant reinventions of the illustrations of a sensual feminine world, over the years, Gucci's bold collections have helped it build up an international reputation. It is with this innovating vision that Alessandro Michele succeeded Frida Giannini as creative director in 2015. Inspired by all-things-baroque and with a "nova geek" aesthetic, the sophistication and elegance of each piece gives them immediate appeal. Genuine stamp of recognition for this former accessories designer for the Gucci studio.

Over the decades, the company behind the famous GG logo has managed to establish its unique style driven by luxury leather goods. An alliance of ancestral know-how and confident elegance, combined with an equestrian influence, Gucci creations comprise a line of menswear, womenswear and childrenswear.
